Rep. Daniel Webster just pulled off one of the most cynical healthcare betrayals in recent memory — and Florida’s seniors are paying the price with their wallets AND their lives!
The Florida Republican switched his vote at the last minute to pass the GOP’s healthcare destruction bill, helping push it over the top in a nail-biting 217-213 vote. This after he had PROMISED constituents just months earlier that Congress would “not pull the rug out from underneath anyone” on healthcare coverage!
THE DEVASTATING FALLOUT
Webster’s treachery didn’t just threaten coverage — it DESTROYED it. The bill would have stripped healthcare from 1.8 million Floridians and allowed insurance companies to jack up rates on people with pre-existing conditions. In one of the OLDEST congressional districts in America!
But wait — it gets worse.
THE $35 INSULIN VOTE
In 2022, Webster voted AGAINST the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped insulin costs at just $35 per month for Medicare patients. That’s right — he literally voted against affordable insulin for diabetic seniors!
THE PREMIUM EXPLOSION
Webster’s coup de grâce? He voted to let ACA subsidies expire that kept healthcare affordable for 4.6 million Floridians — more than ANY other state.
The result? PREMIUM HELL. A 30-year-old Florida woman saw her premium nearly TRIPLE from $900 to $2,500 a month. A Central Florida father with diabetes? His jumped from $28 to $733!
THE COWARD’S RESPONSE
Webster’s reaction to families drowning in healthcare costs? He refused to hold a single in-person town hall to face his constituents.
