THE GREAT BETRAYAL
Remember when politicians promised to fight for your kids’ public schools? Well, John Lujan just threw that promise in the trash – along with $1 billion of your tax dollars!
The Texas lawmaker, who once paraded his mother around in campaign ads touting his support for public education, has now fully embraced Governor Greg Abbott’s school voucher scheme that funnels taxpayer money straight into the pockets of private school families – including wealthy ones who don’t even need the help!
SCHOOLS CLOSING WHILE LUJAN PLAYS POLITICS
Here’s the kicker: while Lujan was busy voting for Abbott’s rebranded “education savings account” boondoggle, public schools in his own district were literally shutting down due to budget shortfalls. Talk about priorities!
Schools in San Antonio – including Lujan’s own alma mater – have been forced to close while the state sat on a massive $33 billion surplus. And where was Lujan when critical funding hearings were happening? He didn’t even bother to show up!
THE FLIP-FLOP SPECTACULAR
For years, Lujan refused to take a position on school vouchers, dodging the issue like a politician dodges honest answers. But when Abbott came calling with his millions in campaign cash for pro-voucher candidates, suddenly Lujan found his voice – and it was singing Abbott’s tune.
“I don’t like being in this position,” Lujan whined when pressed about his voucher flip-flop. Well, nobody forced him to sell out public schools – that was his choice!
RICH GET RICHER
The voucher plan Lujan supported doesn’t just help struggling families – higher-income earners can cash in on the taxpayer-funded gravy train too. Because apparently, millionaires need help paying for little Timmy’s prep school tuition!
Meanwhile, almost every school district in the San Antonio area faced funding shortfalls while Lujan played Abbott’s voucher games.
Some public school champion – more like public school undertaker!
